Shane Temara

After what would be considered an impressive 2021 campaign averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds per game, the 6’9” (2.06m) center, currently playing in Norway has forgone all other offers to stay in the Manawatū. It will be Temara’s fourth year in the green and white of the Palmerston North based franchise and he is excited to be returning to the city that has helped to cement his place in the Sal’s NBL.

“It’s been a journey of development for me over the past four years and I feel that Manawatū has become a home for me in basketball terms. The fans and the community are so supportive and really get behind the team, which I enjoy about the city.”

After battling a ruptured appendix and further complications at the end of the 2021 season, which saw him spend three weeks in hospital, Temara is back to his fit self and enjoying the basketball in Norway.

“Yeah, I’m back to myself now but it was a pretty challenging time and knocked me around a bit. I’m glad to be heading back to New Zealand and to Palmerston North for the 2022 season.”

Newly appointed Property Brokers Jets Coach, Natu Taufale is rapt to have Temara’s signature.

“Shane has proved himself as one of the premier big men in the Sal’s NBL and we are excited to have him back. We expect Shane to develop even further under our programme and will provide the basketball environment to allow this to happen.”

The 2022 Sal’s NBL gets underway for the Property Brokers Jets at home in the Fly Palmy Arena on Friday 8 th April when they take on the Wellington Saints.
