Tu Kaha Cooper

The Property Brokers Manawatū Jets have taken a flyer on talented youngster Tu Kaha Cooper for the final spot on the team’s 12-man roster.

Cooper seriously impressed the coaching staff at last month’s Jets trials, standing out amongst a group of very good players from across the country. The Junior Tall Blacks triallist has made the move from Northland to Palmerston North for the season and joined the team on an amateur contract.

“Tu Kaha has an excellent skillset and a tonne of potential,” head coach Tim McTamney said.

“We’re excited about having him in the group this year and seeing how his game develops over the season.”

Cooper says he’s looking forward to developing his game in the Jets system and under coach McTamney.

“I was looking for the best place to take my game to the next level and the Jets situation was a clear winner,” he said.

Cooper and fellow youngster Finn Lally have signed with the team on amateur contracts so as to retain eligibility for college basketball in the United States.

The 2021 Sal’s NBL gets underway for the Property Brokers Jets in Auckland on Friday 30th April when they take on the Auckland Huskies.
