Jets to Grant Contract Release of Import Signing

Property Brokers Jets import signing LaGerald Vick has requested a release from his 2023 contract for family reasons.

With his elite shooting and athleticism, the former University of Kansas star was a high-profile recruit for the Jets. However, the organisation understands that player health and wellbeing come first and is now working through options for him to sign with a club closer to his home in Memphis, Tennessee.

"The entire New Zealand basketball community was excited about LaGerald playing in our league in 2023, and we were confident he could help take our team to new heights," Jets Head Coach Natu Taufale said.

"But, at the end of the day, we know he would struggle if things going on at home preoccupied him throughout the season. We're just glad this happened before the season started and not halfway through it."

Taufale adds that it may actually be a blessing in disguise, with the team close to signing a more highly rated replacement from the NBA G-League.

"We're just working through some final bits and pieces in the contract, but we're hoping to announce the signing in the next few days," Taufale said.
