Schick 3x3 Cup 2022

The 4-day Schick 3x3 Cup Tournament kicked off at the ILT stadium in Southland on the 12th of October and saw 16 men's and 16 women's teams from across the country come together to go head-to-head in non-stop action over the four days – with games broadcast live on Sky Sport.

Teams and their players came from domestic National Leagues and included athletes from the Tall Ferns, Tall Blacks, and their respective 3×3 national teams. Over 120 Kiwi players flew into Invercargill for the exciting four-day event.

Representing the Manawatū Jets were Klein Salmon, Ben Robertson, Tama Fa'amausili, and James Cawthorn. Klein, Ben, and Tama played for the Jets during the 2022 NBL season, while James, (who has played in the NBL for the Rams and Saints), joined the squad from Wellington for the tournament.

The boys played incredibly well on Days one and two and made it through to the quarter-finals on Day three against the Wellington Saints, where they fell short by one point to make it through to the semi-finals and finished up the tournament in 7th place overall out of 16 teams. James Cawthorn ranked 12th in scoring overall with 50 points in 8 games.

We're incredibly proud of these boys who represented the Manawatū and our sponsors with pride during this grueling tournament. The Mainland Pouakai was the Women's Grand Final winner of the 2022 Schick 3x3 Cup, while the Southland Sharks defeated the Canterbury Rams to win the Men's Grand Final.
