Miles Gibson signs with The Jets for 2025
Fresh off the tarmac, we're excited to welcome Miles Gibson to the Property Brokers Jets for '25!
6'6 forward Gibson from Virginia, USA hops across the ditch to Aotearoa from Australia after playing in the NBL1 with the Perth Redbacks to join our squad.
"Miles does a lot of things that can help a team win games. He is a flat-out scorer and can defend multiple positions and rebounds at a high clip. He will be a great addition to the Jets", says Coach Webster about the newest addition to the roster.
Miles' basketball career began in his senior year at Millwood School, where he averaged 16.4 points and 8.2 rebounds as a senior, was named team Most Valuable Player, and played in the 804 All-Star Game.
Gibson began his college career at Northwest Kansas Technical College, where he was awarded Male Athlete of the Year (JUCO) in his first year and earned first-team all-conference marks for his sophomore campaign. Then, he moved to Eastern Michigan University (NCAA), where he majored in communication. Gibson spent two seasons at Eastern Michigan, redshirting in 2019-20 before appearing in 16 games and making six starts for the Eagles. It was here Gibson notched first career double-double with career highs in points (13) and rebounds (13) against Adrian.
In 2021, he transferred to MSU Denver, playing in 29 games with 22 starts. He averaged 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds for Roadrunners team that won 17 games. Gibson played his graduate season with the Binghamton Bearcats (2022-2023) and was named a Binghamton AD Honor Roll member. In 31 games, he had 11.3ppg, 5.4rpg, and 1.4apg on the court. He helped the Bearcats make it to the semifinals and was ninth in America East with 0.7 blocks per game in conference games.
In 2024, he left the USA and started his pro career with the Perth Redbacks, leading the Redbacks in rebounds with 21 ppg, and was awarded the Most Rebounds award at the 2024 NBL1 West Awards.
"I'm extremely excited and eager to get started and join the program, meet the fans, and connect with the community," says Miles about signing with the Jets and moving to the Manawatū region in the coming weeks.
We can't wait to welcome Miles to New Zealand and the Manawatū and watch him make a statement in The Hangar!

About Property Brokers Jets:
At the heart of Jets Basketball is community. As one of the eight founding teams of the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1982, the Jets have proudly represented the Manawatū region. Over the years, the team has reached two NBL finals, in 1992 and 2020. Originally known as the Palmerston North Jets, the team expanded its regional focus and rebranded to the Manawatū Jets in 2002. Despite a brief hiatus in 2015, the Jets made a successful return to the league in 2018, reigniting their commitment to the sport and the community.
Today, the Jets’ vision extends beyond the court. It's about fostering a love for basketball and providing opportunities for kids across Manawatū. Whether they're playing in schoolyards, local playgrounds, or competitions at the Arena, our mission is to open doors for every child who dreams of reaching the highest level of the sport. At the Property Brokers Jets, we’re not just building a team; we’re building a future for the next generation of basketball players.
